Hospitals banning Crocs

Crocsfy2Crocs, the fashionable plastic clogs, could be banned from all hospitals because it is feared they interfere with life-saving medical equipment.

The soles on the shoes are thought to generate static electricity which is strong enough to knock out respirators and machines in operating rooms.

They are now expected to be banned from the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS trust in South Yorks, and other hospitals are set to follow suit.

The move comes after a hospital in Sweden reported malfunctions on respirators and other machines which they blamed on static electricity generated by the shoe.

That's not the only reason they should be banned. They're ugly and stupid. I have no idea why people think these look good or feel comfortable. Good for the Swedes!

Exactly what anon above said.

OK, I agree with the ugly part. They are ugly as natural born sin but you are wrong about the comfort part. I'm a RN that works 12 hour shift and they are the most comfortable shoes going. Why else would so many of the nursing and medical staff wear them? You just need the ones without the holes on the top. If the man in 224 decides to pee on your foot you don't want to deal with that.

They make you look like Smurfs or something! Terrible, trendy crap...

Remember jelly shoes in the '80s? That's what this shoe-trend reminds me of. Tacky and tasteless, I don't care how comfortable anyone says they are. Try Skechers shoes. I own several pairs, and they're all the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Plus they LOOK good -- like real shoes.

i currently work in theatres and have had crocs banned in out dept. i feel that this is out ragious. how many nurse's are nbow going to go off sick because of bad backs etc. when they first came about there was a huge article in the nursing standard claiming that they are anti-static. with all the claims that are goin on, are they sure that they were original crocs and not some cheap imitation that caused the problem. since changin back to my other shoes, i have had problems occur again with my back. oh well, the nhs cant get anything right can they
